This research report presents SMA’s sixth annual look at the Top 10 Imperatives for Insurers. The list of SMA’s Top 10 Imperatives articulates the key areas that insurers should have at the top of their minds as they chart a course for the months and years ahead – the imperative actions that are needed to link strategy to business capabilities to technology investments. This year, the changes to the imperatives reflect the evolution of the industry toward more customer-centric, digital enterprises – developments which influence all imperatives. Many insurers and solution providers map planned initiatives against the Top 10 to identify gaps or potential shifts in emphasis for their technology investments.
Each of the 10 Imperatives includes a visual representation and an SMA analyst’s insights into why it is important for insurers to consider. Figure 1 provides an example of an imperative – Achieve Responsive Product Configuration.
